Day 75: Pure Cevennes nature

Today was absolutely awesome! That was because everything aligned perfectly. Nothing that I experienced today was planned before, it was all about nature and I was mostly all alone.

From my campsite just underneath the Castelbouc rock village I cycled a little more along the Tarn, crossed it at the next opportunity and took the route up the cliffs towards the edge of the canyon.

It was a spontanious decision to go up there and see the Cevennes plains. The climb never felt tough because the views were always great.

After going up 500 meters I reached the plains.

There is not much going on up here, so I could just enjoy the different landscape. There were also surprisingly smooth roads that had the looks and the quality of the German bicycle paths.

Sometimes I crossed very small and lonely villages.

On a sign I learned about a cave nearby. I had already seen two caves recently, so I wasn't sure if I should go. It was only one kilometer away, so I decided to go there and do it if a tour was starting within 15 minutes.

When I arrived the tour was just about to start. How lucky I was to see this place, because it was absolutely stunning what nature has created here.

I have tried to catch this surreal beauty of the Aven Armand in pictures.

For me it was hard to believe that this is not something artificial. Although I believe that noone would be able to design such a place, except nature.

Back to daylight there were more nature phenoms right around the corner.

Soon after I had an equally awesome experience as I enjoyed just rolling down back into the canyon.

The rock formations of the Cevennes are awesome. Additionally there were eagles flying around and landing in this canyon wall.

I enjoyed this pure nature in complete silence for almost 30 minutes before I continued through the amazing cliffs by just effortlessly rolling down with the wind in the hair.

There were more and more eagles circling around as I continued towards Le Rozier along the river.

I settled down in Le Rozier in a hotel because it is very cold in the morning and it is difficult to dry the tent when the sun does not get down into the canyon.

Never will I forget this day on which nature displayed its full power and beauty in front of my eyes.
