Day 62+63: The Canyon of Verdon

With the renewed bicycle I started from Draguignan up to Ampus, again (for pictures see here). From there it was pretty even until Aiguines, where the climb towards the edge of the canyon began.

But it seems that I have got used to cycling in these conditions, because I felt quite comfortable, and surely the views were amazing.

It took a lot of time to cycle all along the canyon because of the climbs and the numerous times I stopped for the views. It started raining in the evening and there were no campsites, so I spent the night in this hotel right at the edge.

The next morning the peaceful silence added to the atmosphere of this scenic environment.

I reached the plains and the small town of Trigance shortly after.

From here it was back to the canyon with more breathtaking views.

Ready to easily close out the day on a campsite, a thunderstorm came right at the worst time when there was no shelter around.

Lightning quickly came scary close, so I just got away from my bike and went down the hill where I had to endure the pouring rain and lightnings all around me for two hours.

After all of it was over, I still had time to go to Riez where I found a very friendly host where I could stay, because everything was completely wet.
