Before the trip I had planned to go to Saint Tropez and leave the coast. I would have done it anyway at this point, because I did not want to see any more masses at the water which was the case all along since the day I left Rome.
So I began the climb up North towards the canyon of Verdon.
It was tough but I liked the empty road and enjoyed the new impressions.
After a road was closed I had to take a different route and came to Ampus, an old, small town in the mountains.
At this time it started raining heavily and I waited in a cave-like building which was part of the old water system of the town. With the rain I could see it in action.
When it stopped I was able to get a great look onto the town just a few steps outside.
It was already late and there were no campsites or hotels around, so I decided to go to Tourtour.
Tourtour was small but very beautiful and there were also a few nice places to stay.
The only free room was at this heavenly place where I stayed for the night. I was at 600 meters now and would have to go up to 1200 the next day.
So it was a good investment to be refreshed the next morning.
