Riez is a town with lots of Roman influence, so when leaving towards the plain of Valensole I took a look at the little ruins that remain from this time.
Searching for the lavender fields, I came through some small villages, but no fields yet.
The town of Valensole is the center of the lavender fields.
Before the start of the trip I knew that I would be here at the end of August when the fields are not blooming any more. I was hoping that somewhere there would be a little field still purple, but it was not the case.
Still it was a nice experience and it is good to have reasons to come back to some places.
If you want to see blooming, purple lavender fields, just google it.
Update: Two days later I found a purple field up high in the mountains near Vachères. Although not fully blooming.
