Day 18: Fighting through the Sissi region

With the hotel being right at the Königssee, I wanted to get a single boat early. But as it was still raining very hard everything was closed.
So I did not see the lake at all, but I had enough and left. If you don't want me, I'm not interested.

I left the Königssee in the rain.

Salzburg was just around the corner, so although it was not originally planned I decided to go there for a short visit.

The route just lead easily along the Salzach river while it was still raining.

Salzburg was not really a big deal, the rain did not help making it look good.

The next points on the way were locations from the Sissi movie. Schloss Fuschl and the Kaiservilla in Bad Ischl.

Just when I arrived at Schloss Fuschl, it stopped raining and the sun came out a little bit.

To reach Bad Ischl I had to cross a small mountain, and that's when the already wet and difficult day went ugly.

For whatever reason my navigation sent me over small path with steps somewhere in the woods. At one point when I had to lift my heavy bike the left bag fell off, slid off the edge and fell so far down that I could just hear it roll through the trees in the distance.

It was the bag with the tent and sleeping bag, without it my journey was probably over.

I climbed down and after nearly 2 hours of crawling through the woods and the mud I found it.

As I was completely wet, dirty and exhausted I decided to take one of the small hotels that I had passed before the hill. Anyway I wanted to watch the Brazil vs. Belgium game which I did to end the day positively.

My trip was still alive!
