In the morning I left the campsite at the Rhine early and had breakfast in Unkel.
Instantly I liked this nice and quiet little place and decided to have breakfast in the center with view onto this artwork house.
My route continued along the Rhine and offered some unexpected views, like this rock which I would have expected in Peru, but not here on my second day.
Also there were more small towns, like Breis am Rhein.
In Koblenz the Rhine and the Mosel merge at the "Deutsche Eck".
I was equally amazed as I was as a 19 year old when I took the train alongside the Mosel to Cochem on the first day of my military service.
For those who know me, I'm into scenic soccer fields, so I had to stop for this one.
I had been cycling at the river for quite some time in the heat, so I quickly went into this fountain to cool off my legs.
There were still many interesting things to see at the riverside, especially lots of castles.
From cycling at a high pace I was exhausted and had some food in a small place.
It was only 15 km to the bridge. Little did I know how tough it would be to get there.
With already 95 km in my legs, I started climbing the first hill. It seemed to never stop and soon I was unable to continue. I reached a very small village in the woods and asked a lady in front of a house if food was available somewhere. There was nothing nearby, so the couple invited me to sit in the garden and get filled up. I'm very thankful that I always meet such generous people!
Finally I was able to find another couple o Warmshowers where I could spend the night.
