The first kilometers led out of my village and it felt surreal to cycle through well known territory while knowing what was ahead of me this time.
Throughout the morning it was cloudy and it slightly rained at times. From Grevenbroich I followed the Etft river to Bedburg.
Out of Bedburg I continued towards Bergheim.
For the first 50 kilometers I was not very excited, but it hit me when I left Bergheim behind me. I was now cycling areas I had not seen before and I knew that from now on everything was a new discovery and a great adventure.
At Weilerswist I left the Erft and went east through a little forest towards the Rhine.
In Bonn I passed the center and continued along the river.
Behind Bonn I wanted to find a campsite around Königswinter.
I put up my tent directly at the shore. Between Weilerswist and Bonn I had to cycle very difficult paths, so I was very exhausted.
So I took a shower and went to sleep, knowing I just had to repeat this more than 100 times.
