Day 5: Sequoias in Ettlingen

After putting  down my tent I left early. In a near market I bought some milk and had müsli for breakfast.

As I was approaching Speyer I was able to see the dome from the bridge.

Speyer was a beautiful city.

Behind Speyer the trail was in good condition and offered nice views all along.

It lead through a large forest with a neverending straight on the way to Karlsruhe.

On the way I ran into a huge and beautiful sports area in the middle of the forest. There was a hockey tournament for kids where everyone was camping.

The long straight finished right at the castle in Karlsruhe.

A customer of my former company had offered to stay at his house in a small village in the hills above Ettlingen.

Ettlingen itself was beautiful.

When I passed a park I saw a sequoia tree and went right at it. It had an equally perfect shape than the one I had seen in the gardens of Arcen earlier this spring.

Antonio not only offered a great room with bed, but also invited me to have a barbecue while watching the Germany soccer game.

So finally I was able to take a shower and sleep in a bed and get my clothes washed.
Thanks Antonio and Claudia for the hospitality.
