Day 59: Cannes to Saint Tropez

My bicycle had felt strange during the last couple of days, and early in the morning I realized that the frame was broken. That was very bad news, because it is aluminium. It meant that I would probably not be able to continue with the bike.

But I love my bike and I was not giving up on it too soon, so as I was still able to cycle I continued.

Cannes was a city for the rich with many impressive hotels, cars and yachts.

Out of Cannes towards Saint Tropez, the coast mostly consisted of red rocks and small bay areas where people were swimming and diving.

In this area I passed a bicycle shop. Laurent liked my story very much and tried very hard to help me. We were thinking about fixing it like a broken bone, and Laurent came back with some material and was able to fix it provisionally.

Laurent even refused to take any money from me. Laurent, the bike still feels good, but even if I will need to buy a new one at some point, I'm very thankful for your support and you have reenergized me for the trip.

It continued through this interesting setting all the way to Saint Tropez.

Saint Tropez itself was not really good for me. Too many people, too many cars and it was not even pretty.

I spent the night above the town on a nice campsite with a very friendly owner.

Tomorrow I will leave the coast to climb into the mountains.
