Day 7: Canal and villages in Alsace

In the morning I went back into Strasbourg to buy some food and to see more of the town. It was still cloudy but the sun came through occasionally.

From city center I was able to follow the canal to get out of town in the most scenic and efficient way.

It went just straight for a very long time with always changing characteristics so there was always something interesting to see.

Even a spot to have late breakfast was available.

The canal guided me right into the heart of Alsace. When I turned away from it I immediately hit small and picturesque villages.

Those of you who follow this blog regularely will notice the sequoia in the background.

It was just a beautiful ride all day long with almost no people around.

This was the last landscape impression before I entered Colmar.

I was not really liking Colmar when I entered it because it was noisy and industrial. There were so many people in the center that I could not make any proper pictures. I had enjoyed the small villages more. So I just sat down to have a salad and decided to come back the next morning.

There was a great campsite at the bottom of the hills just outside town.

So the day ended earlier than usual and I had a chance for an extended rest before the difficult tour tomorrow.

I have done 758 km on the first 7 days. This pace will not be upheld tomorrow as the destination is 1500 meters high in the black forest.
