From my campsite I was going towards the Ardèche canyon. Early I reached Pont-Saint-Esprit with its old stone bridge.
After Aigueze I crossed the Ardèche. This is the lower point of the canyon.
I decided to see the caves of St. Marcel and kayak the complete 32 km of the canyon the next day.
The caves are very large and delivered interesting views.
For the rest of the afternoon I went shopping for the long tour and had my chili con carne with very good bread and beer.
There was a nice, elderly couple from Cologne on the campsite. Until late in the night we talked about our experiences They have been cycling a lot in recent years and had taken the direct route through France. Both of them create beautiful, little paintings of the places they visit.
Let's see how I will do tomorrow. I have some kayaking experience on various lakes and on the Saale river, but I guess 32 km is more than I have done in my whole life alltogether.
